Column-Based Piece Transformation Chess
A piece's identity never changes. Only the movement rule of the file it stands on applies. The king is always a king, the pawn is always a pawn. To play online enter the lobby; no account needed, you can play as a guest.
| File | Movement |
|---|---|
| a | Rook |
| b | Knight |
| c | Bishop |
| d | Queen |
| e | Original piece type |
| f | Bishop |
| g | Knight |
| h | Rook |
- Example: a knight landing on the c file moves like a bishop; on the d file like a queen; on the e file like a knight again.
- After castling, the rook uses the movement of the file it lands on.
- A promoted piece also follows the file rule.
